ColorZilla is a handy tool for web developers and designers that allows you to find out the color code of any pixel or group of pixels on any open web page. The program is implemented as an extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers.
With ColorZilla you can quickly find out the color of any design element of your favorite website without leaving your browser. In addition to using the selected color in your projects, it can also be useful if you need to know the exact color regardless of the monitor, in case the latter is not calibrated.
Getting started with the tool is very easy, just click on the ColorZilla icon in your browser. After that, a drop-down menu will appear, through which you can access the various functions of the program. If you move the cursor outside the menu, a panel with color, hexadecimal (HEX) and RGB representation and additional information about the size of the selected element will appear at the top of the browser, and the cursor will change to a cross. To select an element, you need to move the cursor over it and click the left mouse button. The color value in HEX format will be copied to the clipboard, and the color will be saved in the Picked Color History. Right-clicking the mouse will end the tool.
The main functions of the program available through the drop down menu:
- Page Color Picker – the program’s main tool for color selection, the closest analogue is the Pipette tool, which is universal to most graphic editors;
- Color Picker – visual tool for color selection, color palette, where colors with gradations of shades are presented, here you can change the selected color, change the brightness and place the color in the archive;
